uncanny...unimpressive....difficult...still trying...fate...random thoughts

its uncanny that i'm writing again after a long break and again at a time when everybody is posting about cricket(T-20 world cup final) on facebook....don't know whats the connection between me writing and cricket! or is it that for indians cricket is a 24*7*12 obesession!!

anyways...coming back to blogging...well i hve definitely realised its not that easy - hardly land up writing often enough....wonder how people manage - or is it that blogging is for a certain type of people - the literally evolved intellectual ones - and not for not "a little different" types like me...dunno - but am still giving it one more shot...

well...where do i start - its the end of a non eventful weekend...spent it with "myself"...lots of work done though..the household/exercising variety - i'm calling the weekend uneventful the entertainment way - didn't have a drunk friday or a saturday night - did not go and watch a movie - did not catch up for coffee..etc etc...the usual things - but surprisingly did not get bored or irritated..and this is becoming a trend now...wonder what is the change...is it that i have become more "content" - or is it that i'm simply growing "old"? +@#$$%% - well i am approaching my 30th birthday -- omigosh!!! thats what everyone says....however wonder whether it really is a big deal... should i be watching movies like "things to do before u r 30" and feeling depressed and low about the fact that i would have probably done 2-3 things from the list? or should i just take it as another year gone by with the next one to look forward to and try and make the most of it...

this somehow brings me to another thought - is it fate that decides what our lives are or do we need to shape it according to our terms? i do believe that fate decides a lot of things, but one cannot leave one's life completely to fate - if that were true there would not be successful and unsuccessful people, happy and unhappy people. some say happiness is directly correlated to success - success in terms of a successful career - successful family life - successful relationships...but i have met people who are unsuccessful and happy as well as successful and still unhappy...so wonder what is the balance that one needs to maintain to be successfully happy in life...:) and how much to leave to fate and how much to take in one's hand...

signing off on that note....

after a long hiatus after my first post - putting all the effort back for my second one...and am not finding it easy to find a topic to write about...i mean the hot topics are obviously IPL and elections- but then the entire 1 billion people are talking about them - for people like me who are not keenly interested in either there is hardly anything to talk about - i mean u open the newspaper and its filled with it, switch on the TV, read something on the net - same story - wanna catch a movie - but oops! - no movies releasing due to IPL season! So the question is what do people who do not enjoy politics or cricket do for entertainment during this entertainment lull season...
suggestions invited!

my first post

March 2009 is rather late to have a "first post" on a blog. The way I'm looking at it is atleast its happened now rather than never. Have always wondered why people would publish their thoughts to the world - I mean unless there's some purpose to it - I have realised there is no way of finding out unless I try it out myself...so here I am - a self proclaimed non blogger with no specific topic or purpose of starting this blog and no idea what shape i want to give it as time moves on...like they say somethings are better left on their own - they will automatically take some form..my only expectations at this point in time are that 1) this could be the "Dairy" that I have never maintained and will help when my memory fails me 2) I might discover something about my writing skills - I have never done any creative writing or any writing ever, but somehow have a hunch that I might be decent at it.

So - to start a topic - well, I have just spent a complete couch potato kinda weekend...and trust me - it was awesome - saw a season of FRIENDS, some movies - the one i would recommend is No Reservations, MTV Roadies, Obama talking to Jay Leno, Indian Premier League not being played in India. My favourite is IPL not being played in India - I mean its just proves that the statement "It happens only in India" true all over again!! Who would think that a league called by the name of a country - where the teams are based on cities in that country will be played in some other country?? Didn't Mr. Modi know that the elections were at this time and didnt the government know that there would be security required for the teams as well as the elections in advance - have seen a lot of discussion on TV but no body seems to be talking about what happened suddenly?? To me it was the attack on the SriLankans in Pak - suddenly our security agencies realised that cricket also requires security and then it was like - oh my god - just realised its at the same time as elections - and oh my god again - our netas also need security.... so what a perfect opportunity to create another controversy and a perfect media build up to both the elections and IPL(which anyways comes along with Bollywood) - and the junta is glued on - what could be better entertainment - all 3 obsessions of Indians put together in the same news story - must say what a field day for all our "Breaking News" journos...

Thats my two bit of journalistic writing...looking forward to the drama taking larger shapes...wonder what big plans Mr. Mallaya would have in his mind right now to make the most of the new venue..
